Arbatskaya station opened in 1953 and has a very large and deep quay, designed as a bomb shelter as well as a metro station.

The special feature of this station is that it has an elliptical instead of round tunnel and is decorated with red marble, classic chandeliers and patterned floor.

It is located underneath Ulitsa Arbat, the most famous street of the historical center of Moscow.
